Oh Canada! Where do the Girls Go?
2015 Oil on Canvas
36”x24” - artwork shown on posters and newspapers
This painting was long in creating. I have been working on sketches for 3 years now to try and express how I felt about the 50 thousand and counting girls and women missing across our great country.
British Columbia is not exempt, for we are regularly looking for a missing girls or finding girls dead.
My painting shows a cedar tree truck that represents a silent witness of the landscape. A highway crisscrosses the landscape of hills, mountains, trees and water. A female hand is stretched across the Canadian Flag and is buried under the maple leaf. – A. Dyck
